Pregnancy & Osteopathy
Pregnancy is an incredible time, but it isn't always comfortable. As your baby grows, your body has to adapt to significant physical changes, and it is completely understandable to experience aches, stiffness or discomfort along the way.
Osteopathic care during pregnancy is gentle and tailored to your individual needs and stage of pregnancy. It may help to ease musculoskeletal discomfort such as lower back pain, upper back and neck tension, pelvic or hip discomfort and pelvic girdle pain.
The aim of treatment is not to “realign” your body, but to help you feel more comfortable as your body adapts to pregnancy. Depending on your needs, treatment may include gentle soft-tissue, joint or fascial techniques, alongside advice about movement, posture and comfortable positions and help you to prepare for the birth.
Your treatment will always take into account your pregnancy, medical history and any advice you have received from your midwife or doctor. If your symptoms require medical assessment, I will recommend that you speak with your GP, midwife, obstetrician or another appropriate healthcare professional.
